Registered Nurse (Clinical Nurse Educator)

The Registered Nurse (Nurse Educator) meets all VHA educational curriculum requirements set forth by the Office of Nursing Service (ONS) and other regulatory accreditation bodies. This position is accountable for the development, implementation, coordination, administration and outcomes of all nursing educational programs at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System. This position facilities nursing education throughout the facility:
Nursing Orientation, In-services, unit-based staff meetings, collaborative programs/projects, Simulation learning, academic affiliates and continuing education/career development within nursing service. The nurse will demonstrate excellent clinical practice, problem-solving critical thinking and decision-making skills while performing their duties within the parameters of approved policies, protocols and standards of practice. This position uses the nursing process and puts a high importance on implementing evidence-based research into practice. The Nurse will be a resource to staff and to the facility while serving as a mentor to new nurses, student nurses, and other nurses, and other nursing staff. The Nurse Educator must be highly adaptable and easily adjusts to environmental changes. This position provides guidance for all supporting programs within nursing education. The nurse reports to the Nurse Manager of Education and Informatics and is organizational aligned under the Associate Director Patient Care Services. Position may entail other duties as assigned The Registered Nurse (Nurse Educator) is responsible and accountable for the development and delivery of Patient Care Service staff development and education programs. The Nurse Educator is primarily responsible for the orientation of new employees, evaluation of their progress in the orientation process, and for developing and implementing a learning plan for improving identified deficiencies. The population served includes nursing staff and support staff in PCS and Primary Care services. The Nurse Educator will work collaboratively with Patient Care Services and facility-wide education programs and initiatives. The Nurse Educator will actively participate in workshop/continuing education programs designed for career advancement as well as function in classroom teaching environments, clinical arenas, and as a group facilitator during training and implementation of changes in nursing related computer applications. Experience:
Master's degree in nursing or related field and 2-3 years' experience; or Doctorate degree in nursing or related field and 1-2 years' experience. Degree in Nursing Education preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certified Ability to coordinate and facilitate interdisciplinary education programs Customer Service skills are essential; must be highly skilled in interpersonal effectiveness. The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. You must be able to perform work that requires regular and recurrent bending, lifting 30 pounds or more, stooping, climbing, twisting and/or bending, standing and/or walking almost constantly during the course of the day, reaching above the shoulder, stretching, and similar activities supporting various weights; walking and standing for 8 hours; frequent pushing medication carts, wheelchairs, litters, beds; use of fingers, both hands and both legs; emotional stability (you must be able to care for Veterans with various medical and psychiatric illnesses who at times may exhibit unpredictable behavior and may have the potential to be physically or verbally assaultive); near vision correctable at 13 to 16 / far vision correctable in one eye to 20/50 and to 20/100 in the other / both eyes required with ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing aid permitted in order to sufficiently hear various alarms and respond immediately.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
